European Watches of the Year 2012!

It has taken the members of the jury many hours of discussions, comparisons and decisions to find out which watches were awarded with the European Watch of the Year prizes in a splendid competition organized by 00/24 WatchWorld and 00/24 Horloges! They had to judge over 100 nominated watches in four men’s watch categories and one category of ladies watches. And we proudly present the five winners. In addition over 7.000 readers of our magazines and website voted for the coveted Readers Award. In this category we can announce TWO winners! In a competition there are winners and – inevitably – losers. But this competition is an exception: there are only winners because the European Watch of the Year is one huge celebration of watch making at its best.

Category 1: up to £2,500

Winner: MeisterSinger Perigraph Anthracite

While the judges were impressed by the ingenuity and good value of Christopher Ward’s jumping hours watch, this came down to a straight fight between the clarity and build quality of Bremont’s Solo and the simple elegance of MeisterSinger’s single-hand calendar watch. In Bremont’s case, here was a watch, as brand founder Giles English noted in his presentation, “you can wear in the boardroom or up Mount Everest”; while the MeisterSinger was intended to create a more relaxed take on timekeeping. In the end, the pleasing elegance of the latter watch won through. Congratulations to MeisterSinger.
